Kitesurfing, wing foiling and foiling in North Holland

The North Holland coast is one long North Sea beach with an access point every few kilometres: Wijk aan Zee and IJmuiden around the piers, Castricum and Zandvoort as classic beach spots. The beach faces almost everywhere to the west-northwest, which makes southwest to northwest the golden directions: exactly the wind that most fronts bring. Small waves for anyone who wants to jump, and thanks to the piers at IJmuiden the water is locally just a touch flatter. Anyone who prefers to wing foil or foil can use those same beaches, and on Amsterdam's inland waters such as the Sloterplas you will find flat water where wing foiling is allowed and kitesurfing is not. In southwesterlies, watch out for the crowds: this is the back garden of Amsterdam and Haarlem.
