Wing foiling in Limburg
Limburg has no sea, but it does have the Maasplassen: a sprawling network of linked lakes around Roermond that has grown into a much-loved wing foiling and windsurfing area. The Oolderplas near Herten is the best known, with wing foiling schools at the water's edge and wind that is usable for foiling from about eight knots. Kitesurfing is generally not permitted on these lakes, so Limburg features here as a wing foiling region. The wind is fickle thanks to the inland character, so expect sharper gusts than on the coast.
